Regrettably, Ruddery Pit has been damaged very recently by individuals trying to create a mountain bike trail in the pit.
The pit and the adjoining field are Environmentally Protected areas and are managed by volunteers under the Countryside Stewardship scheme. There are sheep in the field that you have to cross to access the pit and the area is enjoyed by a lot of people from Ashwell and the Mordens as a rare chalk grassland habitat.
If anyone knows who has caused the damage, could you please help discourage this activity.
